After School Care

As a leading nonprofit for strengthening community, the Y believes access to afterschool programs is important for all kids, but for young people in low-income or struggling environments, they are critically important to supporting academic achievement and providing the kind of enrichment that sparks passions, builds skills and opens doors.

We believe every child is full of promise and possibilities, and we love being there when a child realizes it, too.

Our program has well-trained staff who are focused on meeting the needs of each individual participant who are committed to serving as excellent role models for the community and will help to establish an atmosphere where parents can be secure and confident about the place their child grows. The program is fully licensed by the State of New Jersey’s Department of Children and Families. We are also accredited by the New Jersey School Age Child Care Association (SACC) since 2006.

REGISTRATION PROCESS FOR YMCA AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAMS

Registration is on-going and you may apply in person at our Main Building located at 100 North Arlington Avenue (corner of William Street), East Orange, NJ 07017 from 7:30am - 6:30pm.


PLEASE NOTE:  THERE IS A 48-HOUR REGISTRATION PERIOD after the application is completed:

Monday - student can start on Wednesday

Tuesday - student can start on Thursday

Wednesday-Thursday - student can start on Monday
Friday - student can start on Tuesday


WE MUST HAVE A COMPLETED APPLICATION BEFORE WE CAN REGISTER YOUR CHILD FOR AFTERSCHOOL!

The following is needed to register children:

Membership fee $80.00 (once a year)

Registration Fee of $50.00 (non-refundable); if eligible, Programs For Parents will pay for the registration fee only

First month's tuition of $305.00 for Turrell Center - or - $270.00 for Bowser, Garvin, Gibson, and Warwick

Completed and signed Afterschool Program application - Turrell Center or Offsites (Bowser, Carver, Garvin, Gibson, Houston and Warwick)

Completed and signed Food Program Form (form must be printed on 8" x 14" paper)

Complete physical and immunization/shot records

A clear photo of the child attending the program (child must be in the photo alone)
Voucher/Confirmation from assistance agencies (i.e. Programs For Parents, DYFS, Family Friendly)

Please print and complete the Registration Packet and review the School Age Child Care Parent Handbook and EO YMCA SACC Welcome Letter. If your child has allergies that may require the use of an Epi-pen or inhaler, please complete the Permission to Medicate Form and supply the medication on the first day that your child attends the program.

Please call 973-673-5588 for complete details about our monthly and registration/membership fees. We accept payments from many government assistance agencies and we also provide financial assistance for those who qualify.

BUS TRANSPORTATION PROVIDED 

Children are transported from the majority of all public schools in the East Orange School District. Transportation is provided by Jordan, a leased transportation company. The buses are state inspected and equipped with seat belts and 2 YMCA staff members on each bus.  We also pick up children for early dismissals.
