Week 5: July 24 to July 28 

Barn Yard Ho' Down - Preschool

Week 5 of Summer Camp will include the following fun activities, plus a Backyard BBQ on Thursday, July 27. Campers will play games while enjoying burgers and hot dogs fresh off the grill. IMPORTANT: Campers must wear their camp shirts, socks and sneakers to camp on Thursday, July 27! 

 

Culinary Creations: Popcorn on the Cobb

Campers will make Popcorn on the Cobb using popcorn, green tissue paper, yarn, tape and baggies.

 

Move N' Groove: Happy Line Dance

Campers will line dance to the song "Happy" by Pharrell.

 

Sensory Play: Squishy Bags

Campers will be creating a sensory bag using flour, paint and water in a zip lock baggie.

 

Global Arts: Horse and Cactus Handprints

Campers will create a collage with their handprints, making a horse or cactus in paint. 

 

Natural Wonders: Gardening

Campers will be planting their own personal flower in a plot in the front yard of the Y.

 

Mad Scientists: Line Dancing Raisins

Campers will be checking to see how many times the raisins will float up and down in the water. 

 

Y Fitness! Run, Run, Chicken

Campers will play the game Run, Run, Chicken by running from safe zone to safe zone without being caught.

 

Swimming

Click here for the Swimming Schedule for each group. Please send your child to camp with their bathing suit on their swim days. On scheduled swim days, please do not put any lotion on your child. Send in some for after swimming.

Week 5 of Summer Camp will include the following fun activities, plus a Camp Cookout on Thursday, July 27. Campers will play games while enjoying burgers and hot dogs fresh off the grill. IMPORTANT: Campers must wear their camp shirts and sneakers to camp on Thursday, July 27! Note: Not all campers participate in all camp activities. Some activities are age-specific.  

 

Culinary Creations: Pink Piggy

Campers will use rice cakes, cream cheese and fruit to create a pig.    

 

Move N' Groove: Square Dancing

Campers will Ho' Down with these cool new dance moves. 

 

Lot Games: Milk the Cow

Campers will race back and forth to see who will milk the cow the fastest. 

 

Team Building: Hot Chocolate River

Campers will use marshmallows to cross the HOT chocolate river. 

 

Global Arts: Farm Frenzy

Campers will create age appropriate art projects the will be displayed in the lobby.

 

Natural Wonders: Gardening

Campers will discover the world of nature by planting with our specialist.

 

Mad Scientists: Popping Popcorn

Camper will manipulate kernels to see exactly how and why popcorn pops. 

 

Y Fitness! CATCH

Campers will get active while playing various games in the CATCH box.

East Orange YMCA Day Camps provide a safe and enriching environment for campers to participate in healthy, developmentally-appropriate activities and learning experiences.

Our camps focus on building self-esteem, confidence and social skills while increasing independence and health and wellness awareness.  Your camper will have fun and make new friends while exploring new experiences.

STAFF

We carefully select and screen caring role models who demonstrate a passion for developing confidence and good character in youth.  The Y maintains a commitment to a recruiting process that includes comprehensive training and background checks.  A large percentage of our lead staff are year-round employees with many years of experience and training.

We continue this tradition by providing exciting and fun-filled summer camps for young people with a full range of educational and recreational activities for children between ages 3 and 15.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

Day trips are free.

Each child receives a camp t-shirt that must be worn on trip days (additional camp t-shirts may be purchased for $10.00 each).

We have an indoor, heated pool on site and parents are given a swimming schedule according to their child's camp.  Camper's must have a swimsuit, swim cap, towel, change of clothes, rubber soled shoes and a plastic bag (for wet clothing).

Breakfast, lunch and a PM snack are served daily.

FEES AND HOURS
(Explorers, Achievers and Adventurers Day Camps)

DATES: 9 weeks; June 26 - August 25
HOURS: 8:30am - 3:30pm
Before Camp Care: 7:00-8:30, INCLUDED
After Camp Care: 3:30-6:30pm, INCLUDED
CAMP FEE: Ages 3-13, $164 per week; ages 14-15, $100 per week (We do accept Programs for Parents and financial assistance is available).
ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP FEE: Youth $80; Family $150 (valid for 12 months starting on the process date)
CAMP REGISTRATION FEE: $25 (one-time for the summer)
