  • Before/After School Age Child Care

    Essential Functions:

      • Participates in strategic planning for the Association.       • Oversees talent management, including training, leadership development, retention, recognition, employee communication and career development. Assesses and evaluates training and staff development needs, and develops programs to meet needs.

      • Oversees compensation and benefit programs, including job description and classification, salary structure and salary adjustments. Oversees benefit plan communication, enrollment and administration. Assesses the competitiveness of Human Resources programs and practices against the relevant markets and makes recommendations for improvements and changes.
      • Remains current with employment laws and regulations. Maintains an effective program of compliance with laws and regulations related to Human Resources and manages relationships with compliance agencies and YMCA legal counsel.
      • Oversees HR systems and employee records to ensure accuracy and improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the organization. Ensures timely and accurate submission of data requested by the EEOC, YMCA of the USA, Department of Labor, etc.
      • Works directly with the Association Human Resources Committee to build volunteer relationships, develop policies, oversee policy implementation and meet the related needs of the Board.
      • Develops staffing strategies and implementation plans and programs. Identifies and cultivates appropriate and effective sources for candidates for all levels of jobs.
      • Provides direction to the Human Resources Department staff in the performance of their duties, establishing work priorities in achieving strategic and operating plan goals; prepares and manages associated budgets.
      • Serves as a resource and participates as a leader/member of various staff committees and leadership groups.

    4. Environmental Education Instructors

Fairview Lake YMCA Camps is a year round residential outdoor education program that focuses on hands-on experiential education and outdoor courses for children in grades 2-8. Fairview Lake is located in the Northwest corner of New Jersey surrounded by 660 acres of swamp, forest and fields. We also reside on a mile long lake, our name sake. We are only an hour and a half drive to New York City!

      Fairview Lake Environmental Education and Conference Instructors will teach pre-approved academic curriculum for ecologies, facilitate the teambuilding course, and lead campfires and night hikes. Environmental Education classes are a major portion of lessons led, however, some recreational activities like boating, climbing wall and orienteering occur regularly.       Minimum Requirements:  At least one year of experience teaching gymnastics or 3 years or more in participating in a gymnastics program.  Previous experience working with children ages 2 to 5 years old a plus.

      • Minimum 2 years of experience in a related field.

       

      Swim Instructors:

      Responsible for teaching Progressive Swim programs. Must ensure the safety of all students enrolled in classes while making learning experience enjoyable and fun for all the participants. Required to maintain the physical demands of the position and possess strong interpersonal skills to maintain a trusting relationship with children, parents, staff, and community and be able to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with YMCA standards.

      Minimum Requirements:

      • Certified as a Swim Instructor with the Red Cross or the YMCA.
      • Must have prior experience with children in a similar teaching setting.
      • Must be able to teach classes of up to 8 swimmers.
      • Must be able to teach different swim strokes and water acclimation for ages three through adults.
      • Must learn the curriculum for all swim levels.

      We are looking for a part time Maintenance employee to take on responsibility for the delivery of maintenance and janitorial services for our South Mountain Branch YMCA.

       

      Some of the essential responsibilities include but not limited to maintenance and repair of buildings and classrooms, monitor heating and cooling operations, maintenance of building equipment and supplies, maintenance and monitor outdoor areas/landscaping, and perform preventive maintenance checks.

      The individual is required to ensure compliance with OSHA safety as well as licensing regulations. Must be able to prioritize projects, repairs and work orders and complete work in a cost effective manner.

      The position is required to assess Center needs and make recommendations to supervisor, act as liaison with outside vendors, replenish supplies in coordination with supervisor, and assist in the pick-up and delivery of supplies and mail. Staff will be trained before camp in all areas of safety, aquatics, group work, working with youth, risk management and engaging activities. All hired staff will need to attend a minimum of 30 hours of pre-camp trainings on some evenings and weekends in June. Certifications Required: CPR and First Aid; will be provided by YMCA if needed.       Senior Counselor (at least 18 years of age)

      Senior Counselors are responsible for supervising Junior Counselors and camper groups, implementing day-to-day activities, assist in the planning of special events and camp activities, supervising daily swim lessons, engaging children in activities, and communicating concerns and issues to parents and directors. Applicant must have prior experience in providing excellent customer service for parents, campers, and staff leadership. Previous experience in baby-sitting or working in a child care center is preferred.  Must be willing and able to get into the water to assist in swim lessons daily after being trained by YMCA lifeguard staff. 

      Junior Counselor (at least 16 years of age)

      Junior Counselors are responsible for assisting with daily activities including swim lessons in the pool and ensure safety of campers at all times. Entry-level position but previous experience in baby-sitting or working in a child care center is preferred. Must be willing and able to get into the water to assist in swim lessons daily after being trained by YMCA lifeguard staff. Desire to make an impact on the lives of the children we serve.

      Job responsibilities include teaching a variety of outdoor classes in the areas of ecology, natural history, team building and outdoor skills, assisting in evening programs like night hikes and camp fires, and developing new curriculum. A BA/BS is preferred but not required, however a love and wonder of the natural world, and an enthusiasm to work with children are requirements of the successful applicants.
