The Metropolitan YMCA of the Oranges and the YM-YWHA of North Jersey join together Livingston, NJ, July 1, 2011 – The Metropolitan YMCA of the Oranges is proud to announce that they have joined together with the YM-YWHA of North Jersey in Wayne Township. After more than a year of fact finding, due diligence and strategic talks the YM-YWHA of North Jersey’s Board of Directors unanimously approved the plan to partner with the Metropolitan YMCA of the Oranges. Effective September 1, 2011, the YM-YWHA of North Jersey will become the Wayne YMCA, a branch of the Metropolitan YMCA of the Oranges. “There is great potential in providing YMCA programs and services in Wayne Township and we are confident that this strategic collaboration will help to further advance our Mission to strengthen the foundations of the community,” said Richard K. Gorab, President and CEO of the Metropolitan YMCA of the Oranges. The YM-YWHA of North Jersey and Metropolitan YMCA of the Oranges share similar values and have the same desire to reflect an environment with an emphasis on family, inclusion, acceptance, and serving others in our community. In joining together, the Y will develop and improve the well-being of people of all ages, abilities, faiths and backgrounds in Wayne, today, tomorrow and well into the future. With the addition of the Wayne Y the Metropolitan YMCA of the Oranges now has six distinct branches located throughout New Jersey in East Orange, Hardyston, Livingston, Maplewood, Stillwater and Wayne. Each of these Branches offers a varied and unique array of programs for people of all ages including childcare, summer camps, fitness, aquatics and before and after school programs just to name a few. As a member of the Metropolitan YMCA of the Oranges you have access to all of the Branches and can enjoy the various programs being offered throughout our Association. “The Metropolitan YMCA of the Oranges is a very special place, exemplifying the essence of a community-first organization.
