Our enrichment programs are designed to expand your child's learning opportunities, enriching their physical and emotional needs while enhancing academic needs in a safe and fun atmosphere.  As a result, children foster new friendships, expanding both social skills and the desire to learn and grow every day.

Tiny Tumblers I (Walking – 2 ½ yrs) 
A fun introduction to gymnastics that will help children develop their gross motor skills while rolling, balancing, swinging and crawling. Toddlers will get the experience of a structured class with the help of their adult chaperone. Stretching, circle time, parachute games, obstacle courses, skill building and singing are all key parts of this class that keeps it fun. Tiny Tumblers will help children transition into independent gymnastics and sports classes as they get older. This is a class that requires the adult chaperone to participate with the child.

Tiny Tumblers II (Walking – 3 ½ yrs) *Teacher recommendation or evaluation required
A class for toddlers who have taken Tiny Tumblers I or other gym classes and are ready for more advanced instruction. Toddlers will get the experience of a structured class with the help of their adult chaperone. This class will be held similar to our preschool classes, yet still with the aid of an adult. This class is the next level in helping children transition into independent gymnastics classes as they get older. This is a class that requires the adult chaperone to participate with the child.

Family Game Time (walking - 3 yrs)
Did you know playing board games teaches counting, sharing, taking turns, word recognition, colors and social skills?  Join Miss Courtney for a new game each week!  Learn the basics of games such as Don’t Break the Ice, Memory, and more. Parents/chaperones are required to stay.

Yoga Friends (walking - 3 yrs)
Miss Varrita has been teaching children gymnastics for years and is ready to expand her reach with our families. Certified by the Yoga Alliance, Varrita will teach yoga to both adults and children in this class. Get your exercise while the little ones learn along! Parents/chaperones are required to stay.

Sensory Explorers (walking - 3 yrs)
Get your hands dirty in this adult/child sensory class!  Each week, we will create sculptures, make our own clay and goo and more fun activities from various medium. This class is perfect for the toddler who likes to dig, mix and mold! Parents/chaperones are required to stay.

Music & Me (walking – 4 yrs)
Explore various musical instruments, learn music terminology and stomp around on our Giant Piano Mat! This class is a combination of singing songs and learning about music through games and activities.  Parents/chaperones are required to stay.

Let’s Go to Art (Walking - 3 yrs)

Building Buddies (walking - 3 yrs)
Use Tinker Toys, Lincoln Logs, Legos and more to create various structures! We all know that toddlers love to build, and in this guided class they will get the chance to do so. All mini architects welcome! Parents/chaperones are required to stay.

Giggle & Groove (0 – 4 yrs)
Toddlers will shake, rattle and roll to the beat with fun music that will make everyone smile. Dress in comfortable clothing. Parents with infants are welcome to participate with wearable baby carriers. Parents/chaperones are required to stay.

Team for Tots (walking – 2 1/2 yrs)
Our first adult/child sports class, Team for Tots will teach children how to play a variety of sports with the aid of their adult chaperone. Games will vary and include soccer, basketball, parachute, and relay races. Parents/chaperones are required to stay.

Open Play (walking - 3yrs)
Open Play takes place three days a week and is only for children currently enrolled in one of our Adult/Child classes. This is an unstructured yet supervised gym time for those who wish to arrive before classes begin and free play. Child must participate with at least one adult. Registration is required. (78652)

PERFORMING ARTS CLASSES

Mini Music Makers (2 - 3yrs)
Are you looking to introduce your toddler to our enrichment program? Miss Courtney is ecstatic to bring our new music program to the ECLC. Your child will learn basic musical terminology, the notes on the staff, rhythm and more through fun and interactive activities. Children can be picked up from the ECLC and brought to the program center.

Ballet I (3 - 4yrs)
In this basic class, children will experience the fundamentals of creative movement. Through fun and exciting activities, young dancers will develop motor skills and understanding of dance terminology. Dancers will get a chance to explore free movement through the eight weeks. Ballet slippers are recommended but not required. Mini Recital will take place towards the end of the session.

Ballet II (4 - 6yrs)
This class introduces students to steps at the barre, floor progressions and center. This class is designed to introduce and grow familiarity with terminology, musicality, rhythm, and creative movement. Ballet is a great opportunity to encourage children to explore a new vocabulary through memorization while allowing routine to develop. Plus- we have a lot of fun! Ballet slippers are recommended but not required. Mini Recital will take place towards the end of the session.

Magical Musicians (3 - 4yrs)
We are ecstatic to bring our new music program to the ECLC. Your child will learn musical terminology, the notes on the staff, treble and bass clefs, counting measures and more through fun and interactive activities. Children will be picked up from class and brought to the program center.

Cirque du SOMA (5 - 10yrs)
Come one, come all! This fusion class combines gymnastics, dance, performance, and circus arts. Participants will explore floor acrobatics, the trampoline, obstacle courses, tightrope, hooping and suspension, in addition to practicing with circus props such as ribbons, hoops, juggling scarves & bubbles!

Musical Theatre (5 - 10yrs)
Coming from the success of Beauty and the Beast Jr last session, Miss Gail is more than excited to continue to bring her love of theatre to the South Mountain Y. Improv exercises, theatre games, vocal warmups, dance combinations and movement routines will be taught throughout this 8 week course, culminating in a showcase performance. Participants enrolled in SACC at the Program Center will picked up for class.

Funky Dance (3-5yrs) Not offered in Fall 1
This active class with fast pace dancing will instill a love of movement through organized dances that the participants will learn to perform together.

Hip Hop Dance (5-8 yrs) Not offered in Spring
Let's get grooving!  This class is designed to introduce Hip-Hop culture through the element of dance. All music is age-appropriate.  All levels welcome, come comfortably dressed! Participants enrolled in SACC at the Program Center will picked up for class.

Global exploration

Global Travelers (3-5yrs)
Travel around the world in 8 weeks! Each week will feature a country as participants learn about the language, food, clothing, music and architecture. Participants will have “passport” that will be stamped throughout the 8 weeks to collect the places they go!

Cooking Around the World (3 - 5 yrs)
Food is the perfect vehicle to introduce children to new cultures. In this class, children will explore a new country or culture each week and cook their lunch as well as one “sweet” item, with a focus on keeping meals healthy.

I Can Learn Spanish (3 - 5 yrs) Not offered in Fall 1
The basics of Spanish will be taught in various mediums such as play, song, stories and conversation.  In addition to experiencing the culture, participants will learn colors, numbers, animals, shapes and more.

Discover Dinos (3-5yrs)
Let’s go back 65 million years to learn about dinosaurs! Our Preschool Paleontologists will make their own fossils and volcanoes while studying the different types of dinosaurs, what they ate and where they roamed. A science class for all dino lovers!

Princess Academy (3-5yrs)
Walk, talk and act like a Princess! Participants will learn to be a true princess through etiquette lessons, dancing, singing and speech. Class will culminate in a performance by the princesses and each will receive a tiara to signify program completion!

Tiny Tinkerers (3 - 4 yrs)
One of our big initiatives at the Y is to encourage STEM-based learning throughout all age levels. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. In this basic tinkering class, students will get to explore creating and designing projects at the tiniest level! Curriculum includes building towers, utilizing gears and tools as well as facilitated free play that allows for adventurous construction!

Little Chefs (3 - 5 yrs)
Our little chefs will learn different food preparation techniques as they make their own lunches and one “sweet” item for dessert. With a focus on keeping it healthy and introducing nutrition into preschoolers’ vocabulary, we will create a cookbook at the end of the session so you can recreate recipes at home!

Fun with Phonics (3 - 5 yrs)
Fun with phonics is a great way to enhance vocabulary, as well as improve on letter, word and sound recognition. Through songs, stories, crafts and other activities, children will get a grasp of the alphabet in a whole new way.

Math in Motion (3 - 5yrs)
Children will gain a better understanding of mathematical concepts by participating in a variety of physical activities, cooperative play, and games designed to strengthen number recognition, counting, patterns and sequencing.

Create & Cook (3 - 5 yrs) Not offered in Fall 1
A new play on our current cooking class, this class adds an extra half hour art project! Each week will have a theme and the children will make a food project and an art project that tie into the theme. Perfect for the child who has immense creativity and likes to explore!

The Art of Comics and Cartooning (5 - 12 yrs) Not offered in Fall 1
Captain America, Spiderman, Batman- they all started as ideas and drawings on a page! Comic Art and Cartooning is a great way to stretch your drawing muscles and create some amazing masterpieces. Learn how to design characters, draw figure and sequence storyboards to begin putting together your book! At the end of the 8 week sessions, participants will have their own comic book to bring home. Participants enrolled in SACC at the Program Center will be picked up for class.
