Environmental Awareness Camp is where children have an opportunity to gain a real appreciation for nature, science and the world around them. Campers will take part in assorted hands-on experiments and STEM projects 3-4 times a week that will develop their curiosity and feed their confidence. Each day will be filled with discussions, exploring, and educational and fun crafts. Children will strengthen their teamwork and social skills through group projects, and will gain water safety knowledge and confidence with swim lessons three days a week.
Daily outdoor activities and explorations both locally and on weekly field trips will help campers learn hands-on about how to become more environmentally-minded. Field trips in previous years have included: Watchung Reservation, Sandy Hook, Jenkinson’s Aquarium, Liberty Science Center and other environmental and educational centers.
Weekly themes vary each year but always center around nature and our environment. With a new theme each week, fresh related activities intentionally expand the camper’s experience, knowledge and appreciation – all while have fun. Creative recreation is scheduled to keep campers healthy and active while also enjoying nature hikes, collecting specimens and participating in sculpture and molding projects. This camp is for the inquisitive camper who is looking to gain knowledge about the world we live in. Be prepared to have lots of conversations about our planet and beyond at the dinner table each evening!
