The Global Arts Camp is the newest addition to the South Mountain YMCA Camp offerings. Founder and director of Global Arts Camp, Ms. Adrienne Mtume, brings a life-long passion for travel, exploration and learning from worldly cultures. Teaching children the importance of respecting individuality while celebrating the uniqueness of others will be the focus of this camp. This camp will instill greater understanding of other cultures, provide opportunities to develop healthy social skills and teach children how to make new friends. |
QUICK LINKSCamp Guide 2012 |
A different country is explored each session - this summer we will be "visiting" Turkey, Brazil and Kenya!
Lesson plans will include an array of activities coordinated with a cultural tour each session. These cultural tours will contribute to all aspects of a child's inquisitive mind through music, dance, crafts, art and games. Each session will culminate with an art show of the campers’ goodwill mission. Each week will include 3 days of level-appropriate swim instruction, followed by free swim time, held at the South Orange Community Pool. Daily recreation is scheduled to keep campers healthy and active. Special events, visitors and field trips are scheduled for each session.
