Vacation Camp

Child Care, for children in Kindergarten through 5th grades, is offered for most of the days the South Orange / Maplewood School District is closed during the school year.   The program is held at the South Mountain YMCA, utilizing the Y Gym, Y Field and program center.  Special activities and field trips are planned to create a healthy, safe and engaging day. The program runs from 7:15am until 7pm. 

Advance registration is required.   This program is available to non-members, although members pay a lower rate.  Vacation Camp program dates are listed below and are based on the South Orange/Maplewood School District's scheduled closed dates but not emergency closings. 

Registration forms are linked below by date.  Please return the completed form and payment to the South Mountain YMCA at 13 Jefferson Avenue, Maplewood, NJ or fax it to: 973.762.2064. 

Space is limited to the first 45 registrations. Register early.

Fees: Members:          $70 per day per child 
          Non-members:  $85 per day per child

Vacation Camp Activities for  May and June 2013

May 24th:  Arts and Crafts Day  We will be putting our creative hats on and making different kinds of art all day long.  We will end our projects with an edible healthy creation.

May 28th:  Cooking Day at the YMCA   We will be making lunch and snacks that will bring out our inner culinary skills.

June 26th:  Wet and Wild Day!  Bring a bathing suit, towel, and a lot of energy for this wet and wild day at the YMCA.  We will be having fun in the sprinkler and play all afternoon in the Y field.  We will finish off the day with a refreshing snack.

June 27th:  DJ Dance Party Day  The YMCA will be bringing a DJ to have a Pizza Dance Party.  Everyone will enjoy an afternoon of cool music, with lots of games and prizes.

June 28th:  Trip to Studio Playhouse  The bus will be leaving at approximately 9:30 and returning at 2:45.  The children will be given a tour of this historical community theater in Upper Montclair and will perform on the stage.  We will finish the day with a talent show.
