Y youth sports programs children cultivate values, skills and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, better health and educational achievement. Youth sports programs help children to grow personally, clarify values, improve relationships, appreciate diversity, develop leadership skills and have fun.

PARENTS NOTE: Children attending the Y's after school program at the Program Center can be picked up and returned to their class by Y staff for any class at the Y gym and field!


KINDER SPORTS (4 - 5 1/2 yrs)
Designed to build confidence in ability, learn team play, develop physical skills and practice good values. This class introduces children to the basics and skills of a variety of sports while playing age appropriate versions of soccer, football, basketball, floor hockey, T-Ball and volleyball. Please observe age restrictions.

PEE WEE TENNIS  (4 - 8 yrs)
Children learn tennis with junior sized tennis rackets, over sized balls and unique teaching methods. Rackets are supplied by the Y but you can bring your own. (No Class on 11/25. Last Class on 12/16)

Fee:  $78 web.JPGKARATE FOR THE FAMILY (Grades K - Adult)
Children participate independently, or with their parents, in this class that introduces the beginning elements of Karate. Learn basic Karate movements and philosophy in order to develop physical fitness, body control, self-discipline, self-control and self-esteem. The program also covers topics of self-defense and safety awareness. The program is taught by Sensei Carmen Puglio who has been teaching the martial arts in our community since 1972.  Uniforms are not required but available for purchase. (There will be class on 11/25 and the last class will be on 12/23 & 12/24)

South Mountain YMCA teams up with New Jersey Devils to provide this hockey program.  Hockey fundamentals are taught in a fun, values-centered environment.  Each class ends with a game.  Participants must provide their own helmet with face guard.  The NJ Devils and the YMCA will provide all other hockey equipment.  All participants will receive a New Jersey Devil's promotional item.  A liability release from the Devils will need to be signed to participate.

3 Week Session - November 5-19th ONLY in Fall 2
Our Skateboard Clinic focuses on building and honing skateboarding skills. Learn cool tricks, make new friends, build self confidence and challenge yourself in a fun environment. Mike Kirk, voted one of New Jersey's best, heads this terrific clinic.  Supply your our skateboard and safety equipment.  Helmet required. Skateboarders with higher skills should register for the Advanced Clinic.
