The West Essex YMCA offers a wide variety of Summer Day Camps that are perfect for children from preschool through teens. Our camps provide activities that are educational, exciting and fun, but most importantly, build self-esteem, lasting friendships and treasured memories.

Camp Peanut Shell 

Camp Peanut Shell (ages 3-5) provides an introduction to the camp experience for our youngest campers. Located at Peanut Shell Early Learning Center, our experienced staff creates a positive learning environment for all campers as they make new friends, become more independent and gain a new understanding of the world around them.  Learn more>

Pioneer Trails Day Camp

Located on the beautiful campus of Caldwell University, Pioneer Trails Day Camp offers a traditional day camp experience for children from pre-K – Eighth grade. Camp activities range from archery to arts and crafts, indoor and outdoor sports, swim lessons, recreational swim, science, tennis, performing arts, computers and annual special events that you won’t want to miss like the Camp Olympics and Talent Show. Super Summer Day Camp 

Super Summer Day Camp, for children entering Kindergarten - Sixth Grade, offers extended before and after camp care, perfect for working parents searching for a full day program for their child. All of your campers favorite activities are provided at our Livingston High School location, including sports, arts and crafts, science, dance and cooking, as well as exciting weekly field trips. Choose to pick up from the Y or Livingston town pool after a fun, filled camp day. Learn More >

Teen Adventure

Teens entering Grades 7-9 need an environment that provides challenging and fun activities with positive guidance from caring adult role models. At Teen Adventure, participants gain independence as they break out of their personal comfort zones. Our Staff

We carefully select and screen caring role models who demonstrate a passion for developing confidence and good character in youth. The West Essex YMCA camp staff guides campers in making the right decisions and displaying empathy and compassion towards others. The Y values of caring, respect, honesty and responsibility are emphasized throughout our camp programs.

The Y maintains a commitment to a recruitment process that includes comprehensive training and background checks. A large percentage of our staff works year-round for the Y with many years of experience and training.

How to Register

Early registration is recommended to secure a spot in the camp of your choice. There are no hidden fees at the West Essex YMCA - all trip fees, camp t-shirts, swim lessons and before and after care is included in your campers tuition!

Before and After Camp care is available at all camps to accommodate the needs of working parents at no additional cost. A variety of activities including organized games and crafts are offered in a supervised environment. Please check the camp listing for times and locations. Pre-registration is required.

Complete the registration form and return the original signed form to the West Essex YMCA with membership and deposit to secure your child’s spot at camp. All campers are required to be members of the Y throughout the length of the camp participation.

A $50 per camp week deposit will secure your child's spot at camp. Sibling discounts are available.

Please note - the dates of your child’s most recent immunizations is needed for the registration form. If your child has allergies or a medical condition that may require medication during camp, please have your child’s doctor complete and sign the ‘Permission to Medicate' form prior to camp.

Financial Assistance
Thanks to the generous support of our members and community, the West Essex YMCA offers financial assistance to income qualified individuals and families. Please call Kathie Amato at 973-992-7500 for more information. Applications for Camp Financial Assistance are due by March 15, 2016.
