The Father’s Day Weekend Virtual 5K and Family Fun Run is an opportunity for members from across the Metropolitan YMCA of the Oranges branches to virtually engage and connect. A virtual run enables our members to train, race, and engage the community while also staying safe and practicing social distancing. Participants can choose which distance they will be running, map out their own course, and even decorate their own finish line!

  • Once you sign up, decide what distance you’ll be running and your course, or you can do it on a treadmill at home.
  • The 5K will be a timed race with results submitted via a phone app. Race times will be grouped by gender.
  • FREE T-Shirt included when one signs up for the Individual 5K.

What is a virtual race?

A virtual race is a race that can be run (or walked) from any location you choose. You can run, jog, or walk on the road, on the trail, on the treadmill, at the gym, or on the track (or even at another race). You get to run your own race, at your own pace, and time it yourself.

How far is the Fun Run?

This is entirely up to you! The recommended distance for the fun run is 1 mile, but what is important is that you get out there and run/walk whatever distance you are trained for/comfortable doing.

When is the event?

The Virtual 5K and Family Fun Run will take place over Father’s Day Weekend, which is Saturday, June 20th and Sunday, June 21st. You can participate in the event at any time during this weekend.

Who can participate?

All are welcome to participate in the event! We encourage families to train together and encourage their friends and neighbors to also join in the fun. This event is open to YMCA members as well as the community!

Is it necessary to submit race results?

This will be a timed race, with times submitted using a mobile device app.

How do I submit my results?

Your registration confirmation email will include a link to submit race results. You may be asked to include a screenshot from a wearable device to verify your race finish time.
