YMCA of Greater Bergen County

Summer Steam Day Camp

Encourage Curiosity and Exploration.

Each week we will concoct and construct hands-on experiments and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) projects that delight a child’s sense of wonder. We foster community, promote personal growth and stimulate summer learning with discussions, outdoor play, art projects, gardening, swimming and more! Swim instruction is two days a week at the Greater Bergen County YMCA. Daily outdoor activities and one field trip per session help campers become more aware of STEAM projects right here in New Jersey.

Weekly themes are always centered around STEAM. We like to keep our campers bodies and minds healthy and active while enjoying nature hikes, collecting specimens and participating in sculpture and molding projects. STEAM companies will also participate in our camp helping to showcase what careers look like in the STEAM fields.

Field trips may include day trips to Watchung Reservation’s Trailside Nature Center, Frelinghuysen Arboretum, Great Falls Historic District Cultural Center, Hackensack Theatre Company, NJ Aviation Hall of Fame, Meadowlands Environment Center, and other environmental and educational centers.
