LIVINGSTON, NJ - The Metropolitan YMCA of the Oranges is now offering free child care to eligible employees of its School Age Child Care programs, under a new pilot program meant to attract and retain qualified staff.
As part of this program, child care staff working in the Y’s before and after school programs at least 15 hours a week are eligible for a 100 percent reduced rate on School Age Care for up to two of their children. In addition, part-time employees of the Y’s Early Childhood Learning Programs are eligible for a 50 percent reduced rate on Early Childhood care fees for up to two of their children. Staff can also receive reduced rates for a third child, under the Y’s current employment policies.
This program is an enhancement to the Y’s current employment benefits in which part-time child care staff receive a 20 percent reduced rate on child care fees, and full-time child care staff receive a 50 percent reduced rate.
The Metro YMCA is seeking both full and part-time staff for child care programs across its branches in Bergen, Essex, Passaic, and Sussex counties. Providing a reduced rate on child care is one more way the Y is supporting working families as they return to offices and classrooms after months of remote work and school.
“We understand that finding quality, reliable, and affordable child care is a challenge that prevents many individuals from returning to the workforce. By removing a barrier for parents who are eager to work and make a difference in their communities, we hope to attract more candidates who can fill open positions and help us safely expand our child care programs to more families in need,” said Ed Philipp, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Metro YMCA of the Oranges.
In addition to child care discounts, new employees are eligible for $500 sign-on bonuses offered for certain child care positions.
Full and part-time employees are also eligible for benefits including free Y membership, paid time off and sick leave, funded retirement plans, flexible work schedules, and more. Visit metroymcas.org/jobs for a full list of job openings.
