Name: Jaime Behringer

First Y Job Role: Early Childhood Learning Center (ECLC) Assistant Director

Current Job Role: ECLC Center Director

How many years at the Y: 5

Q: How did your YMCA career begin?

A: My career at the Y began with a lateral move from another daycare. I was unhappy where I was and wanted to see if other daycares had more room for growth and a supportive work environment.

Q: What’s great about working for the Y’s Child Care program?

A: The Y really understands the development of children and the importance of a child’s foundation. Playing is what children do best. They are curious, mischievous, loving, and most importantly, they are active. What we do is teach these children to harness all their energy and use it to learn through guided play. They are taught social emotional skills that they will carry on throughout their lives. It is the most rewarding aspect of child care, to know you, as the teacher, paved their way to become the future’s best.

Q: What would you tell someone considering applying to the Y?

A: Come work for the Y and you will grow in so many ways. You will grow with the children, grow professionally, and thrive within your work family. It truly takes a village to raise a child. What better reward is there than to watch a child grow with your guidance. Every person is a diverse individual and an important part of the team. We are a Y for all.
