Name: Nya Noziere

First Y Job: Junior Camp Counselor

Current Y Job: Youth & Family Engagement Director & Summer Y Camps Director

How many years at the Y: 17

Q: How did your YMCA career begin?

A: I started attending YMCA camps when I was 8 years old. I eventually became a Counselor-in-Training and was hired as a Junior Camp Counselor the following summer.

Q: What’s great about working for the Y’s youth and family programs?

A: Being able to interact with the kids and being a part of their development/journey - we’re in the business of being positive role models for the kids and helping them become better humans. Also, being in a position to foster a sense of community, belonging, and inclusivity - The Y is truly FOR ALL! You can’t spell YOUTH & FAMILY without the Y!

Q: What would you tell someone considering applying to the Y?

A: DO IT! The Y is an organization like no other! You will have an opportunity to help others learn, grow, and thrive on a daily basis - it is truly a transformative experience! You learn a lot about yourself and others, and realize the positive impact that a place like the Y can have on others in the community.
