West Essex YMCA Board Adds Member, Names New Chair

Tony Wang and Stacey Staaterman Feeney
LIVINGSTON, NJ - The West Essex YMCA has appointed Livingston resident Tony Wang to its Board of Managers and named West Orange resident Stacey Staaterman Feeney as the new Board Chair, succeeding Kris Boni. The Board of Managers works in close partnership with the Y’s leadership team to ensure that facilities and programs match the Y’s mission and remain accessible to all in the community.
“The West Essex Y is excited to welcome Tony to the Board and Stacey as Board Chair. Their career experience and service will help us better serve our members and families, and strengthen our local communities,” said District Executive Director Cheryl Tuturice.
Wang is Professor of Radiation Oncology at Columbia University. He also serves on a number of committees and organizations related to his profession, including the American Society for Radiation Oncology, American Board of Radiology, SWOG and NRG Oncology, organizations that are part of the National Cancer Institute’s National Clinical Trial Network. He serves as Radiation Oncology Chair and Study Champion of randomized clinical trials for brain tumors within National Clinical Trial Network. As a member of the American Radium Society Appropriate Use Criteria Brain Committee, he co-authored guidelines for the treatment management of brain tumors.
His daughter attended the West Essex Y’s Peanut Shell Early Childhood Learning Center for many years and both his children learned to swim at the Y. His family also enjoys swimming, playing soccer, and exercising at the Y.
“The Y has been such an integral part of my family’s growth and development, and I am grateful for this opportunity to give back and make a positive impact on the lives of others in our community,” Wang said.
Feeney is the Founder & CEO of Staaterman Coaching & Consulting, a leadership development firm serving Fortune 1,000 businesses globally.
She is an active member of the Civil Air Patrol, NJ Wing - Curtiss-Wright Squadron. Her Y journey began when she was 10 years old, taking swim lessons at her local Y, and one of her first paying jobs was as a Y camp counselor. Feeney and her husband Brian have been longtime Y members. She has served on the Y Board for the past five years and chaired the Y’s Annual Support Campaign for three years.
"I'm honored and thrilled to be named Chairperson of the West Essex YMCA Board of Managers at such a pivotal time for the YMCA. I welcome the opportunity to support an organization that has been an anchor for my own family,” she said. “My husband and I turned to the West Essex YMCA for child care for our 3-month-old daughter, Erin. We've leaned on the Y community and programs for more than 15 years now — from child care and summer camp to swim team and skiing and fitness and wellness support. Our daughter is a teenager now and I'm thrilled that her first job is as a lifeguard for West Essex YMCA.”
