Shamida Marc

LIVINGSTON, NJ - The Metropolitan YMCA of the Oranges recently appointed Shamida Marc as its new Chief Human Resources Officer, effective Jan. 2. She takes over the role from Sharon Czebotar, who retired after a long career in Human Resources and nine years of service to the Y.

As the new CHRO, Shamida Marc will be responsible for overseeing the Human Resources department and working with senior leadership staff to implement strategies to attract, recruit and retain a talented workforce, thus positioning the Y as an employer of choice. One of her key responsibilities will be to foster a culture of employee and volunteer engagement, in addition to leading the HR team.

“The Metro Y offers unique opportunities to contribute to the local communities and to provide meaningful experiences. I look forward to supporting the organization as the next CHRO,” said Marc.

Marc brings a wealth of experience in business development, recruitment, leadership development, managing projects and leadership in the nonprofit sector. She most recently served as the Senior Director of Human Resources at Our House Inc. in Murray Hill, since 2016. Before that, she worked in Assistant Director roles at Straight & Narrow in Paterson and Arc of Union County in Springfield.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Shamida to the Y. Her extensive leadership experience with similar nonprofit organizations will support our ongoing efforts to foster a workplace where all employees feel empowered to reach their full potential,” said Richard K. Gorab, President and CEO of the Metro YMCA of the Oranges.

Marc has a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts and a Master’s in Management with a concentration in Human Resources from Thomas Edison University in Trenton. She also serves as a board member for the Employers Association of New Jersey.
