LIVINGSTON, NJ – The Metropolitan YMCA of the Oranges is excited to announce the launch of its “Legacy” fundraising campaign for 2025, and invites individuals, businesses, and the community to come together in support of this meaningful cause. The Y’s Annual Support Campaign makes it possible for all children and adults in the community to access vital programs and resources that support youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
The public phase of the campaign, which runs from February through April, encourages supporters to make a lasting impact to the Y’s legacy by contributing a one-time donation or monthly pledge that will go directly back to the community to expand access to YMCA programs.
The Metro YMCA and its six branches aim to raise a total of $3.2 million through the Legacy campaign so more individuals and families can enroll in programs, regardless of their ability to pay. An estimated 1 in 4 people depend on YMCA financial assistance to participate in programs like child care and summer camp.
“Through the generosity of our donors, we’ve been able to provide more than $2.4 million to 3,493 recipients in 2024 alone. With this year’s campaign, we hope to do even more,” said Dan Elwell, Chief Development Officer at the Metro YMCA of the Oranges. ”These donations help reduce enrollment fees for members facing financial challenges, ensuring that children have a safe environment to learn, grow, and thrive, families are supported in maintaining healthy habits, and seniors can forge vital connections to prevent isolation. Every gift counts and brings us one step closer to transforming lives.”
The Metro Y's six branches held kick-off events in January and February, inviting members, staff, board members, donors, and supporters to celebrate the Y's impact in the community while raising money for the Y's financial assistance program.
Since its founding, the Y has been a cornerstone of the community, working to address evolving needs.
“Throughout our communities, countless people know and depend on the Y for their daily workout or swim lessons, but our legacy is so much more than many realize,” said Richard K. Gorab, President and CEO of the Metro YMCA of the Oranges. “We are dedicated to nurturing the potential of every child and teen and improving the nation’s health and well-being. By giving back and providing support to our neighbors, we aim to create a better us and leave a lasting legacy that future generations can build upon.”
