West Essex YMCA Appoints Four New Members to Board of Managers

LIVINGSTON, NJ - The West Essex YMCA recently welcomed four new members to its Board of Managers. The board works in close partnership with the Y’s leadership team to ensure that facilities and programs match the Y’s mission and remain accessible to all in the community. Their appointment also comes as the Y prepares to break ground on a brand new, state-of-the art facility in Livingston.
“The West Essex Y is excited to welcome these new professionals to our manager board. Their career experience and commitment to service will enhance our ability to support our members and strengthen our local communities,” said District Executive Director Cheryl Tuturice. “Their appointment will be instrumental in guiding the successful opening of a new YMCA, ensuring it meets the needs of everyone we serve.”
Shan Bhatt
Shan Bhatt is the co-founder of CareMaps, a firm specializing in retirement planning and senior care consulting. Bhatt has held leadership and advisory positions in the fintech sector at Scotia Capital and Credit Suisse. He is also the founder of InfoIncept Analytics, a pricing technology startup. Bhatt resides in Livingston with his wife and two children. He mentioned that he joined the Board to engage with the broader community, share his business expertise with various YMCA committees, and support the ongoing success of the YMCA.
Art Schnarr
Art Schnarr, a resident of Livingston, is the Managing Member of SB Realty Group, a full-service real estate brokerage located in Short Hills. With over 25 years of experience in the management, operations, construction, leasing, and development of a diverse portfolio of investment real estate, Schnarr brings a wealth of knowledge to the industry. He has also served as a Facility Consultant for Wynonna’s House Child Advocacy Center in Newark. A YMCA member for 30 years, Schnarr believes that his business experience could greatly benefit the YMCA’s operations in various areas.
Krishna Shriram
Krishna Shriram is an accomplished finance and risk professional with over 20 years of expertise in risk management, governance, and regulatory change. He currently works as an independent consultant with a large consulting firm. Shriram has extensive experience in enhancing risk frameworks and controls for major financial institutions. He is dedicated to community service, advocating for education, financial literacy, and social responsibility. He has volunteered for over 10 years with the Boy Scouts of America in Livingston, serving as treasurer among other roles. His commitment to mentoring and supporting initiatives that promote positive change reflects his belief in the power of community engagement. He is particularly excited to serve on the Y Board, furthering his ability to give back and positively impact the community.
Thomas Wiggin
Thomas B. Wiggin, of Short Hills, is a partner at Hartmann Doherty Rosa Berman & Bulbilia with over three decades of experience in real estate law and mortgage finance. At HDRB&B, Wiggin handles the full spectrum of commercial and residential real estate matters in New York and New Jersey, including property acquisitions and sales, closings, lease negotiations, and complex banking transactions. Wiggin specializes in complex commercial disputes, business contracts, and asset transactions, alongside advising individuals and families on estate planning, including structuring assets, trusts, and wills. Prior to HDRB&B, he had a successful career in litigation, real estate law, and mortgage finance, and he has also taught at the New York Real Estate Institute and led courses for real estate brokers.
“I’m truly honored to join the Board of the West Essex Y. The organization has a powerful impact on individuals and families across our community, and I’m excited to support that work in a meaningful way. For me, leadership is about listening, showing up, and helping others thrive - and I look forward to contributing wherever I can to move the mission forward,” he said.
