The West Essex YMCA offers a wide variety of Summer Day Camps that are perfect for children from preschool through teens. Our camps provide activities that are educational, exciting and fun, but most importantly, build self-esteem, lasting friendships and treasured memories.

We intentionally design our camps to be progressive, adding new levels of exploration, responsibility and adventure. Choose from:

Camp Peanut Shell (for pre-K campers)

Pioneer Trails Day Camp (from Pre-K through 8th Grade)

Super Summer Day Camp (entering K - 6th Grade)

Teen Adventure Camp (entering Grades 7 to 9)

Counselor-in-Training Program entering 9th and 10th grade) is available at Pioneer Trails and Super Summer Day Camps. Check out the camp pages for more information.

Our Staff

We carefully select and screen caring role models who demonstrate a passion for developing confidence and good character in youth. The West Essex YMCA camp staff guides campers in making the right decisions and displaying empathy and compassion towards others. The Y values of caring, respect, honesty and responsibility are emphasized throughout our camp programs.

The Y maintains a commitment to a recruitment process that includes comprehensive training and background checks. A large percentage of our staff works year-round for the Y with many years of experience and training.

How to Register

Early registration is recommended to secure a spot in the camp of your choice. There are no hidden fees at the West Essex YMCA - all trip fees, camp t-shirts, swim lessons and before and after care is included in your campers tuition!

Before and After Camp care is available at all camps to accommodate the needs of working parents at no additional cost. A variety of activities including organized games and crafts are offered in a supervised environment. Please check the camp listing for times and locations. Pre-registration is required.

Registration for camp is online. Your child must have a membership at the time of registration and while attending camp to receive the membership rate. If your child does not have a membership when camp starts and during the time they are in camp, the fees will be adjusted to the Community Member rate.
