We are joining together as a community, in partnership with the local synagogues, to hear the heartfelt presentation of survival by Erwin Ganz.  This event is taking place at Temple Beth Tikvah located at 950 Preakness Avenue in Wayne.

A lunchtime workout for the mind now in its 27th year!  Participants interact with and challenge guest facilitators in an informal setting.  Each session offers discussion on an aspect of Jewish tradition, history, modern Israel or a relevant contemporary Jewish issue.  Bring your own lunch. Coffee and tea served.

May 6:  Exodus 1947

In preparation for Yom HaZikaron, Israel's Memorial Day, join us for a viewing of this 1996 PBS documentary, narrated by Morley Safer, about the true story of the Exodus 1947 voyage - the most infamous of ten American ships that attempted to bring Jewish refugees and holocaust survivors to pre-state Israel after WWII.

May 13: Jerusalem of Gold

Join Rabbi Simerly from Temple Beth Tikvah as she leads us in a text study of the song Yerushalim shel Zahav, Jerusalem of Gold, a song so beautiful many thought it should have been Israel's national anthem.

SPECIAL PROGRAM on May 15: Flag Raising with Assemblyman Schaer

All are invited for this special Wednesday rpogram in honor of Yom Ha'atzmaut, Israel's Independence Day.  Remarks by our Israeli Shlicha, Aya Adut and keynote by Assemblyman Gary Schaer.  A kosher light lunch will be provided.

May 20:  Sefirah and Lag B'Omer

A discussion about the significance of this time of year, known as Sefirah, and the obscure holiday of Lag B'Omer.

May 27:  Point/CounterPoint

Enjoy lively and thought-provoking discussion with Arnie and Paula Rogoff about news, current events, and other interesting topics.

Meet the Y's Jewish Community Outreach & Program Director

Haley Chizever worked for the Jewish Federation of Pittsburgh before coming to the Wayne Y in November.  Haley will be working with all ages groups on creating a variety of fun and interesting Jewish programs for all! 


Community Youth Shlicha

Aya Adut has recently joined us this fall!  Aya will work in the Wayne and surrounding Jewish communities as well as the Wayne Y to share her knowledge of Israel with our preschoolers, seniors and everyone in between!
