Fitness Floor Associate

The YMCA of Greater Bergen County is seeking energetic, detail-oriented individuals as Fitness Floor Associates to ensure safety and engagement of our members, keeping the wellness center clean and to provide orientation to new members. All candidates must be passionate about working with people and helping the community with their health and well-being. Responsible for creating a friendly, helpful, positive atmosphere for members, building and strengthening relationships, cultivating community and motivating and supporting members with their health and well-being goals.  Essential functions include, but not limited to:

  • Perform orientations with all new members.
  • Ensure members receive premiere service by monitoring adherence to membership policies, procedures, best practices and standards.
  • Provide a high degree of member service through a professional relationship with the members in regards to their needs, concerns, and questions about the YMCA, its programs and mission.
  • Promote a professional work environment through character development by modeling the values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
  • Ensure high standard of cleanliness in the Wellness center by vacuuming carpet, cleaning fitness equipment, placing weights back in appropriate areas, and emptying trash cans.
  • Assist in member development through strong communication and special events by providing member involvement activities.
  • Attend regularly scheduled meetings with department staff.
  • Manage towel service.
  • Enforce posted rules of wellness center.

Schedules: Monday - Friday 6:00pm - 10:00pm. Flexibility in work schedule required.

  • Bachelor's Degree in physical education or related field, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one (1) year working knowledge/experience with fitness equipment
  • First Aid, CPR/AED current certifications.
  • Certification from a nationally recognized organization such as ACE, AFAA, ACSM, or NSCA a plus.
