Program Coordinator

Description:

  The Greater Bergen YMCA location is seeking a part-time Program Coordinator to work with the School Age Child Care (SACC) Director. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for the development and implementation of new programs for the branch SACC programming. In addition, the Program Coordinator may support other programs, in some capacity such as, Summer Camp, Vacation Camp, Y and YMCA events, etc., as needed. May be responsible for oversite including growth and expansion.

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Coordinate staff and resources for sites and programs. Work with site supervisors, ensuring program meets the quality standards of the YMCA and NJ State regulations. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  2. Coordinates with SACC Director/Program Director, supporting the implementation of required training for staff as mandated by NJ State regulations and YMCA standards.
  3. Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with local organizations: while coordinating and supervising program activities to meet the needs of the community.
  4. Coordinates, tracks and supports planning and implementation of mandated state and YMCA training for staff.
  5. Ensures tracking and attendance reporting for Before School Program.
  6. Maintain and oversee all supplies for SACC, Vacation/Summer supply orders.
  7. Coordinate use of facilities for program activities and events.
  8. Builds effective, authentic relationships with students, parents and community partners; helps the students connect with each other and the YMCA. Encourages parent involvement and identifies potential volunteers.
  9. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Uses teachable moments to discuss character development and provides constructive feedback using positive motivation techniques.
  10. Attends staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
  11. Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned. Will travel between sites as needed.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience preferred.
  2. 1-3 years Supervisory experience.
  3. 1 -3 years working with children in a group setting in Before/Afterschool programs
  4. CPR, First Aid and AED certifications required.
  5. Experience adhering to Licensing requirements
  6. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  7. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communication with all levels including staff, parents and school staff.
  8. Ability to problem solve and make decisions that adhere to the purpose, mission and goals of the YMCA.
  9. Strong organizational skills, detail oriented, and planning skills.
  10. Flexible schedule; Monday-Friday 2:00pm - 6:00pm.
