LGBTQ+ Survey

Your opinion matters.

Through the Y’s shared commitment to developing new generations of change makers who will create communities we all want to live in, we are determined to strengthen the foundation of communities by addressing critical social issues and helping people from all walks of life reach their full potential with dignity. Our “Commitment to America” calls for a heightened focus on young people as a means of creating communities where everyone feels safe and welcome and has equitable access to opportunity. Our organizational commitment to diversity, inclusion and global efforts will help us ensure that all people who come through our doors—including youth, adults and families who identify with Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning and all other Queer identities (LGBTQ+ communities)—feel safe and welcome at the Y. The LGBTQ+ Inclusion & Equity Initiative is one of many national strategies toward this ambitious goal, and we are a proud member of Y-USA’s LGBTQ+ Inclusion Cohort.

Our national office, YMCA of the USA, has developed an LGBTQ+ Inclusion Survey designed to empower us—as part of the LGBTQ+ Inclusion Cohort—to better understand local community needs. We invite you to participate in this survey as part of this effort. Please be assured that all responses will remain strictly confidential, and Personally Identifiable Information (PII) will notbe recorded with survey responses. You will have the opportunity to opt in to learn more about LGBTQ+ inclusion, becoming an ally, and/or receiving survey updates. To ensure respondents are answering the most relevant survey questions, the survey will filter you into one of three voices: LGBTQ, Ally, and General Voice, giving participants the opportunity to provide input based on the voice with which they identify.

It is estimated to take no more than 12 minutes to complete. We kindly ask your support in taking the survey and sharing with your colleagues, family, and friends. Your participation and input are crucial to the success of our initiative.

If you or others feel uncomfortable answering a question, you can skip to the next question.

If you have any questions about our confidentiality policies or methodology, please feel free to contact:Jamie Umanzor (Pronouns: She/Her/Hers) | Jamie.Umanzor@YMCA.NET| Manager, LGBTQ+ Inclusion & Equity
