Summer Camp

Kids need summer camp more than ever, and the Metro Ys enabled more than 1,000 kids to safely learn, grow, and thrive this summer in camps across our seven branches. We were also able to award $90,865 in financial assistance so families could afford to give their kids a camp experience.

My child has had extreme difficulty adjusting to the ‘new normal’ since the pandemic. He has behavioral concerns and the loss of structure to his day has been quite detrimental to his emotional health. I knew I would be taking a chance enrolling him in camp but wanted to give it a try. Although it's still been quite an adjustment, I want to thank the counselors and directors for doing all they can to make him feel comfortable and re-establishing a routine for him, Camp has allowed me to work from without distraction and focus on giving him the attention he needs from me when I pick him up at the end of the camp day. Thank you YMCA! “ - Parent of a camper at the East Orange YMCA"

How You Can Help

Camp provides kids the opportunity to make lasting friendships, gain confidence and independence, and learn new skills. Camp is needed more than ever as kids’ daily lives, normal learning environments, and routines have been interrupted as a result of the pandemic. More families are struggling just to afford basic necessities. A donation can help a child attend camp without their family worrying about how they will pay for it.
