New! Prescribe the Y

The Wayne YMCA is partnering with St. Joseph's Wayne Medical Center and William Paterson University to deliver a new program designed to improve the health outcomes of individuals who currently do not meet the physical activity guidelines.  Prescribe the Y is a FREE 12-week program supervised by American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) credentialed personal trainers.

New! Blood Pressure Self-Monitoring

The Wayne YMCA has implemented a new program to support individuals in improving their health by consistently monitoring and tracking their own blood pressure.  This is a 4-month program supervised by Heart Health Ambassador certified instructors. Program members will have support via weekly office hours and nutrition education seminars throughout the program.

This is an evidence based program that helps cancer survivors reclaim their health and well-being following a cancer diagnosis.  The Wayne Y creates a welcoming community in which survivors can improve their strength and physical fitness, diminish the severity of therapy side effects, develop supportive relationships, and improve their quality of life.

  • A FREE 12-week program
  • Two 90 minute sessions per week
  • Includes a Family Membership for the 12 weeks

Delay the Disease:  Parkinson's Exercise Class

Delay the Disease empowers individuals suffering from Parkinson's disease by optimizing physical function and helping to delay the progression of symptoms.  Geared specifically to counteract the movement challenges that are unique to Parkinson's, this class is taught by certified Parkinson's exercise specialist Drewann Rodney.

Wednesday   11:15am-12:15pm

Members/Program Members:  Free
Community Members: $39 

BOSU Mobility and Stability for the Active Aging Adult

This class provides participant research based experiences for improvement through mobility and stability "games" for functionality, reaction, fall prevention, coordination, range of motion, and overall self-efficacy.  Taught by an accredited instructor who will help you regain your balance and improve your quality of life.  This is a progressive class for a 10 week program.

Program Fee:  $99

Special Needs Programs

Movin' and Groovin'

This program is designed for special needs individuals and consists of weight training activities and lively music and yoga movements.  Everyone moves at their own pace.

Tuesdays   4:30-5:15pm
Facility/Program Member:  $69 for eight weeks

Special Needs Movement

Participants ages 6 through adult can get their bodies moving, play fun games with music, props and their own imaginations! The class will travel through the forest, cross the ocean and fly to outer space without ever leaving the Y.

6-10 years      5:00-6:00pm
11-14 years    6:00-7:00pm
15-Adult         7:00-8:00pm

Family Facility Member: $70   Member/Program Member:  $75   Community Member:  $80
